Shells and cords leg warmers

Hook: 4mm and 5mm
Yarn: Worsted weight, 100% wool (I use Fisherman's wool from Lion's Brand)

Top ribbed band
Ch 11.
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and sc in each following ch. Turn.(10 sc)
Row 2: Ch1 and sc in back loop only for the rest of the row. Turn. (10sc)
Row 3: Ch1 and sc in front loop only for the rest of the row. Turn. (10 sc)
Rows 4 - 48 (or up to size needed): Repeat rows 2 and 3.
This is your band that will hold your leg warmer up on your leg like elastic, so you can adjust this to your size (adding or decreasing the amount of rows).
Slip stitch the last row to the first row to close the band.

"Body"

Switch to a 5 mm hook.
The rest of this pattern is worked in the round.
Row 1: Sc 64 around the band as evenly as possible. Or a multiple of 8 that is larger than the number of rows you made for the top ribbed band.
Row 2: Ch 2. *Skip 2 st, 2 dcs in next, ch 2, 2 dcs in next, skip 2 st, 2 hdcs* repeat from * to * around, ending with dc in last st.  Join with slip st and turn.
Row 3: Ch 2. *Sk 3 dcs, in ch-2 space work (2 dcs, ch 2, 2 dcs), sk 2 dcs, (FPdc in st) 2 times, sk 2 dcs*; repeat from * to * around, ending with dc in tch.  Join with slip st and turn.
Row 4: Ch 2. *Sk 3 dcs, in ch-2 space work (2 dcs, ch 2, 2 dcs), sk 2 dcs, (BPdc in st) 2 times, sk 2 dcs*; repeat from * to * around, ending with dc in tch.  Join with slip st and turn.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until desired length. (In my case I did 27 rows in total)

Row 1: Ch 2. *Hdc in between next 2 dc. Hdc in ch-2 sp. Hdc in between next 2 dc. Fpdc in next 2 dcs.* Repeat around. Join with sl st. Do not turn.
Row 2: Ch 2. *Bpdc in next hdc, Fpdc in hdc of ch-2 space, Bpdc in next hdc, Fpdc in next 2 fpdc*, Repeat around. Sl st in st ch. Do not turn.

Hemp basket

Hemp basket
I made this little basket to hold my little facial cloths, but it would be prefect to hold coasters as well.  I made it with "Natural polished brown hemp" bought at Walmart in the beads & craft section (product # AJM61253 - 100 yd - 91.4m). Work in the round.

Yarn: Hemp (approx. light fingering weight equivalent)
Hook: 4mm (G) & 3.25mm
Diameter: 4"
Height: 2.25"

Bottom of basket

With 4mm (G) hook
Ch 4
Row 1: 12 dc in last ch (First 3ch count as 1 dc). Slip stitch in top of ch3. Do not turn. This pattern is worked in the round.
Row 2: Ch 3. 2 dc in each stitch around (24 dc). Sl st in top of ch3.
Row 3: Ch 3. 1 dc in same st. *1 dc in next, 2 dc in next* work ** around. Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 4: Ch 3.  1 dc in same st.  2 dc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3.

"Body" of basket

Row 5: Ch 2.  1 bphdc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3. This creates a ridge between the bottom and the sides.

Switch to 3.25mm (D) hook
Row 6: Ch 2.  hdc in each st around.  Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 7: Repeat row 6.
Row 8: Ch 3.  dc in back loop only in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 9: Ch 2.  hdc in back loop only in each st around.  Sl st in top of ch 2.
Row 10: Ch 2.  hdc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 2.
Row 11: Ch 1.  sc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 1.
Row 12:  Slip stich in each stitch around. Tie off. Weave in all ends.

Little Facial Cloths

There are a ton of those patterns out there, but for some reason i always had to "tweak" them a little. So I decided to write my own, one that I would not have to "tweak" anymore.  This is the pattern for the facial cloths only. You can find the hemp basket pattern here.

Row 3: Ch 3.  1 dc in same stitch. *1 sc in next, 2 dc in next*. Repeat ** around.  Slip st in top of ch 3. Tie off. Weave in all ends.

Copper Buttoned Cowl 3 in 1

Out of a need to protect oneself from our harsh Canadian winter, I came up with this easy and quick pattern.
1) You can wear it as tightly buttoned cowl to protect your mouth and nose from cold winds during a snow storm
2) You can button it at the end and wear it as an infinity scarf
3) You can simply leave unbuttoned and wear it as a scarf
So here is the written pattern for my 3 Ways Cowl:
Yarn: 2 skeins of Loops & Threads Charisma (1 skein's content:100% Acrylic Yarn, Bulky 5 weight 3.5 oz. skein/ 109 yds)
Hook: 15mm
Materials: 3 or 4 x 35mm buttons
Gauge is not critical for this pattern
Working with 2 strands of yarn, ch 46.
Row 1: Work a sc in each ch
Row 2: work hdc in the backloop across. Turn work.
Row 3 - 11: Repeat row 2.(or until desired height)
Row 12: Work sc across and continue all around the work until you reach your first ch.
Weave in all ends
Sew on 3 buttons in a line at one end of the scarf (right side/outside). Sew the 4th (optional) and the wrong side of work (inside)at the corner of the other end.
No button holes are needed since the holes between the stitches are big enough to pass a button anywhere. That is what makes this cowl so versatile.

Wear it as a tight high collar around your neck and over your mouth

Or like a simple scarf...

I hope you enjoy!
