Hemp basket

I made this little basket to hold my little facial cloths, but it would be prefect to hold coasters as well.  I made it with "Natural polished brown hemp" bought at Walmart in the beads & craft section (product # AJM61253 - 100 yd - 91.4m). Work in the round.

Yarn: Hemp (approx. light fingering weight equivalent)
Hook: 4mm (G) & 3.25mm
Diameter: 4"
Height: 2.25"

Bottom of basket

With 4mm (G) hook
Ch 4
Row 1: 12 dc in last ch (First 3ch count as 1 dc). Slip stitch in top of ch3. Do not turn. This pattern is worked in the round.
Row 2: Ch 3. 2 dc in each stitch around (24 dc). Sl st in top of ch3.
Row 3: Ch 3. 1 dc in same st. *1 dc in next, 2 dc in next* work ** around. Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 4: Ch 3.  1 dc in same st.  2 dc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3.

"Body" of basket

Row 5: Ch 2.  1 bphdc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3. This creates a ridge between the bottom and the sides.

Switch to 3.25mm (D) hook
Row 6: Ch 2.  hdc in each st around.  Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 7: Repeat row 6.
Row 8: Ch 3.  dc in back loop only in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 3.
Row 9: Ch 2.  hdc in back loop only in each st around.  Sl st in top of ch 2.
Row 10: Ch 2.  hdc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 2.
Row 11: Ch 1.  sc in each st around. Sl st in top of ch 1.
Row 12:  Slip stich in each stitch around. Tie off. Weave in all ends.
