Copper Buttoned Cowl 3 in 1

Out of a need to protect oneself from our harsh Canadian winter, I came up with this easy and quick pattern.
1) You can wear it as tightly buttoned cowl to protect your mouth and nose from cold winds during a snow storm
2) You can button it at the end and wear it as an infinity scarf
3) You can simply leave unbuttoned and wear it as a scarf
So here is the written pattern for my 3 Ways Cowl:
Yarn: 2 skeins of Loops & Threads Charisma (1 skein's content:100% Acrylic Yarn, Bulky 5 weight 3.5 oz. skein/ 109 yds)
Hook: 15mm
Materials: 3 or 4 x 35mm buttons
Gauge is not critical for this pattern
Working with 2 strands of yarn, ch 46.
Row 1: Work a sc in each ch
Row 2: work hdc in the backloop across. Turn work.
Row 3 - 11: Repeat row 2.(or until desired height)
Row 12: Work sc across and continue all around the work until you reach your first ch.
Weave in all ends
Sew on 3 buttons in a line at one end of the scarf (right side/outside). Sew the 4th (optional) and the wrong side of work (inside)at the corner of the other end.
No button holes are needed since the holes between the stitches are big enough to pass a button anywhere. That is what makes this cowl so versatile.

Wear it as a tight high collar around your neck and over your mouth

Or like a simple scarf...

I hope you enjoy!
